Possibly/Probably Mayor Andrew Cuomo: The Mayoral Primary is June 24th

Seemingly for months the news of the day was the indictment of Mayor Adams:  Will he resign? Will the governor remove him? and, after November 5th Adams’ pandering to the president-elect, and, will he be pardoned?. A few lawyers  have questioned the charges. Adam’s trial is scheduled for April.

You can read the indictment here.

With the election of Trump the US Attorney resigned, common in a change of the president and the feds have assigned an acting US Attorney.

The indictment charges Adams with accepting upgrades in airplane tickets in exchange for moving up in time a fire inspection for a Turkish government owned tower, and, foreign citizens making campaign contributions and receiving 8:1 matching funds, the contributions by foreign nationals violated the law.

Ex-Senator Menendez accepted gold bars in exchange for favors.

The Supreme Court has ruled, recently, political favors are simply part of the job. See here.
Whether Adam’s facilitated the illegal campaign contributions by foreign nationals is disputable.

The new acting US Attorney is considering withdrawing the indictment.

See the announced candidates and brief bios here.

Andrew Cuomo is probably near making a decision re whether to enter the campaign, probably yes.

Should the UFT make an endorsement? and if so, how?

In 2021 Mulgrew interviewed the candidates online, I believe 12,000 members watched, a straw ballot, Mulgrew interviewed the final four, also on the webinar. The union endorsed Scott Stringer, the union knew him very well, Manhattan Boro Prez and Comptroller. As Boro Prez he chaired the Mitchell-Lama Council, and I got to know him, smart and amiable. Before the primary Stringer was accused of a .#me-too incident, his campaign crashed, the union stuck by him.

Imagine Trump as prez and Cuomo as mayor?

Does the union use the same process as last time?

Does any candidate stand out?

Imagine Trump in the White House and Cuomo in Gracie Mansion  OMG!
